The humps and the bumps historically on the market did not provide the “Total Package”. They still don’t. Shortcomings of available products on the market were identified and solutions addressed one by one, adjustment were made as needed but also combined to form a holistic traffic calming solution. It was originally developed, at the request of engineers in the Western Cape, where the factory is situated, to carry heavy trucks at high traffic frequency (It can handle up to 1050 kPa) and those pilot sites are still functioning whilst providing continuous traffic calming solutions.
Dura Bump was therefore developed and patented by South African engineers based on South African needs and incorporated into a company that specialises in offering traffic calming products and solution, other traffic calming devices have difficulty providing. Although Dura-Bump is relatively new on the market, the Company has had tremendous success with their South African patented traffic calming products but also solutions offered to these areas in which pilot sites have been initiated. Through these successes Dura-Bump has proven their product to be viable as well as durable by implementing the traffic claiming solutions on various sites throughout South Africa, such as game reserves, townships, retail centres and at schools.
